Talk about turning up! The sport pesa festival went down yesternight at the Nyayo national stadium and it was nothing short of epic. It proved to me Nairobians cannot do without partying, I mean everyone is complaining about how tough January is financially, in regard to this perception I thought to myself the organizers of the event were nuts to hold such a gig in 'Njanuary,' apparently I was damn wrong. The queue at the gate lengthened by the minute, personally I did not want to attend the event but after seeing the beauties flaunting their flawless egos lining up at the entrance, you know what I did not do, yes, I did not leave of course, just heard to represent 'teammafisi'.
From kaka sungura to juacali, nonini, nameless, a stage would be an understatement when describing the podium, it was simply legendary. Rabbit opened the show with his hit song 'ligi soo' together with femi one, the duo literally lit the stage up, guys were already sweating from the opening performance. Self proclaimed hip hop king kaligraph jones also did not disappoint his, hit track yego had the massive speakers almost blowing out, the performance of the night was definitely by Timmy dat (the only artist to remove his shirt) the crowd seemed to know his club banger 'welle welle' word by word timmy only had to hype in. The sexiest band in the land according to the ladies shocked us with a lackluster performance, it was unexpected but luckily we had redsan to change the atmosphere again and he was a worthy sign out.
The show was a success overall except for the minor theft cases, it is kinda normal nowadays, but all thanks to sportpesa and the team for letting us forget about awful January.
